Henry Street Settlement holds the Lillian Wald Symposium, named for our founder, each year to grapple with the most important issues of our times. This year’s panelists will address the subjects of work permits, shelter, the asylum process, and our legal and ethical responsibilities to support our new neighbors. Panelists include: Henry Love, vice president, public policy & strategy, WIN; Edafe Okporo, author and founder, Refuge America; Jodi Ziesemer, co-director, Immigrant Protection Unit, New York Legal Assistance Group; Arnel Lanoy, Henry Street program participant; and Alexandra Délano Alonso, professor of global studies, The New School.
